Build Your Own Church – A Future-Fit Transformation
DHP is honoured to have played a central role in delivering the Build Your Own Church project — a bold transformation driven by the congregation’s ambition to modernise their facilities with sustainability and longevity at the forefront. Working in close collaboration with Ash Contracting Limited and IGN Structures Limited, this project represents a significant step forward in shaping a more environmentally responsible, future-ready place of worship that meets the evolving needs of its community.
Our Role: Sustainable Mechanical and Electrical Solutions
At DHP, we thrive on the challenge of delivering design through sustainable engineering solutions, that make a real difference — and this project was no exception. We were proud to lead the architectural refurbishment incorporating mechanical and electrical aspects of the scheme, helping the church meet its ambition to reduce carbon emissions and create infrastructure that supports both present and future generations.

One of our proudest achievements was the complete removal of gas from this part of the site. By eliminating fossil fuels and transitioning to an all-electric system, we’ve helped the church align with modern energy standards and simplify ongoing maintenance. This bold move significantly reduces the building’s carbon footprint and lays the groundwork for future innovation.
We also oversaw the installation of solar panels, providing the church with a renewable energy source that supports its day-to-day operations and reduces reliance on the grid. This investment in clean energy is not only cost-effective but also sends a powerful message about the church’s commitment to sustainability.

Our team carried out a comprehensive upgrade of the electrical infrastructure, ensuring the building is fully equipped to handle modern demands — from heating and lighting to AV systems and accessibility features. These enhancements not only boost energy efficiency but provide a flexible platform for the church to adapt and grow over time.
With the energy systems future-fit, we supported a full back-to-shell refurbishment of the internal spaces. This included a brand-new kitchen, modern toilet facilities, and the creation of versatile office and meeting rooms. These improvements elevate the overall usability of the church and ensure it remains a vibrant, welcoming space for years to come.

A Sustainable Future for the Church
Together, these works showcase DHP’s commitment to delivering meaningful, future-focused design and engineering solutions. Our contributions have not only improved the operational performance of the building but have helped transform it into a sustainable, adaptable space designed to serve its community for generations to come. By removing gas, integrating renewable energy, and modernising core infrastructure, we’re proud to have played a key role in supporting the church’s vision for a greener, more resilient future — and to have left a lasting, positive impact on both the building and the people who use it.
